Mr. Mason - the fine gentleman who created the Mason Pearson brush.
Although his beard looks more luxurious than his hair (ah-hem) he spent
his whole life studying hair brushing. He found three things very
important to the every day task of hairbrushing.
1. Hairbrushing cleans the scalp.
2. Hairbrushing stimulates the scalp increasing the blood flow to the roots.
3. While brushing the hair correctly - the brushing stimulates the
natural oil glands - the sebum. As the sebum is distributed through the
hair it gives it strength, suppleness and produces a healthy shine.
We
have chosen to offer the Handy Mix Mason Pearson brush. The mix is a
mix of natural boar bristle (boar bristles are tough - to withstand
daily brushing - yet their natural tapered end is perfect for
stimulating the scalp and getting through the hair.) The Handy Mix has
6 rings of a mix of pure nylon and boar bristles. (The little boars are
not harmed for the collection of the bristles.) All of the Mason
Pearson brushes have a unique pneumatic rubber cushion. Mr. Mason also
discovered this cushion allows for an even distribution of pressure on
the scalp so that it is not too hard (irritates and overstimulates the
scalp) nor is it to soft (doesn't stimulate the scalp or thoroughly
brush the hair.) The Handy Mix is the ideal brush for normal length to
short, thick hair.
